The First Chapter
Before becoming an event, THREAD is a cultural project.
It was created with the idea of building a living space where independent fashion can be observed up close, deconstructed in its mechanisms, and
narrated through its process.
Its first edition took shape in Milan, within the iconic spaces of Fondazione Sozzani — a natural setting for a dialogue between archive and contemporary experimentation. Here, THREAD made its debut by clearly defining its identity from the very beginning: a cultural device that places the value of the unique piece and independent research at its core.
Opening this first chapter was CAVIA, led by designer Martina Boero. A presence perfectly aligned with the spirit of the project, embodying transformation as a creative language.
CAVIA: Upcycling as Language
CAVIA works with matter as if it were memory.
There is no neutral starting point: every garment carries traces, marks, and previous lives.
Every surface tells a story of what existed before and continues to exist in a new form.
For CAVIA, upcycling is not a sustainability label.
It is a creative stance.
A way of existing within the fashion system without fully belonging to it.
An almost subversive act that re-centers time, craftsmanship, and uniqueness.
And it is precisely this tension — between past and future, between archive and experimentation — that THREAD chose to place at the center.
When the Archive Becomes the Future
The first edition of THREAD revolved around a simple concept: nothing is created from scratch.
The archive is not nostalgia. It is potential.
During the event, participants were able to observe the method: material selection, garment deconstruction, form reconstruction.
The manual gesture became the protagonist.
CAVIA works with fragments that seem to belong to the past and pushes them forward — toward new silhouettes, new proportions, new identities.
Within this dialogue between what has been and what can become lies Revesto’s vision.
Revesto was born to build an ecosystem around independent fashion.
A place where value lies not in quantity, but in vision.
With THREAD, this vision moved beyond the screen to become a tangible experience: encounter, dialogue, shared process. Not a physical extension of the platform, but its natural cultural evolution.
Not a simple collaboration.
But an alignment of visions.
